Monday’s all class cattle sale featured a good run of cull cows and bulls, and a light run of feeder cattle. Slaughter cows were steady to higher, with a top price of $161.00, and an average price of $142.00-$145.00 per cwt. Slaughter bulls brought up to $160.00, and averaged $150.00. There weren’t enough feeder cattle for a market test, with most of the run heifers, and quite a few off color and breed in the run. There is still strong demand for feeder cattle, especially on calves and yearlings over 650 pounds. Bottle calves brought $750-$950 per head, while cow calf pairs sold for $2500-$3000 per pair. Next Monday, May 26th, we’ll be off for the Memorial Day holiday, and be back Monday June 2nd with a feeder special.
