Monday’s feeder sale featured a good run of calves mostly in the 500 to 750 pound range, and a strong cow run to start the day. Slaughter cows were steady to $5 higher, with excellent demand. The best of the slaughter cows topped out at $196.00, with an average of $175.00-$188.00, while feeding/replacement cows brought up to $246.00. Slaughter bulls were steady, averaging $200.00 per hundred weight, with a top of $207.00 on a light offering. Baby calves sold from $1250-1350 per head, while bred cows sold from $2500-$3200 per head. Cow calf pairs brought $3650 to $3900 per pair. The feeder market was excellent Monday, with good buyer turnout and excellent demand. 400-500 weight steers sold up to $520.00, with an average of $470.00, while same weight heifers topped out at $462.50, with an average of $422.00. 500-600 weight steers brought up to $500.00 and averaged $449.20, and heifers brought up to $420.00. Steers weighing 600-700 brought $447.00 and averaged $411.00, while heifers sold for $420.00 and averaged $361.50. 700-800 weight steers brought $371.35 on average, and topped out at $385.00. Heifers weighing 700-800 pounds hit $344.00, with an average of 314.50. Next Monday, May 4th, we’ll have an all class cattle sale, with a good group of 20 pairs on offer after the cull cows sell.
