Market Update 05/03/2021

Monday’s regular cattle sale featured over 350 head of stock, with a nice run of cows, bulls, and feeders.  Slaughter cows and bulls were $3-$7 lower on Monday, with an influx of cows coming up from drought stricken California increasing the supply and decreasing demand for cows locally.  Cows topped out at $.65 cents per pound for slaughter, and feeder cows brought up to $.79 cents per pound.  The average on cows was $.58-$.60 cents per pound.   Slaughter bulls brought up to $.91 cents per pound, with an average price of $.85 cents.  Feeder cattle were lower on an uneven supply, with not enough of any one class for a true market test.  700-800 weight steers were stronger for the local market, bringing up to $1.34, with an average of $1.29, and 800 to 900 weight steers brought $1.30.  Next week we’ll have a feeder special, and expect a good run of light calves and yearlings on offer.  If you have any questions or would like to consign, give us a call anytime.
