Market Update 10-19-20

Monday’s feeder special featured 1300 head, with a large run of light calves and good buyer participation.  Though the market was active, feeder cattle and cull cows were down sharply, following the futures board’s downward trend.  Slaughter cows topped out at $.67 cents per pound, though the average was $.49 cents per pound.  Slaughter bulls averaged $.72 cents, with a top of $.81 cents per pound.  Feeder cattle were steadier on the heavy end, with 700-800 weight steers bringing $1.35 on the top end, with an average of $1.23.  500-600 weight steers brought $1.46, with an average of $1.30.  Heifers were $.15-$.20 cents back on the lighter end, while heavier heifers had a closer spread of $.04-$.12 cents back.  Next Monday, October 26th, we’ll have an all class cattle sale, our Next Feeder Special will be Monday, November 2nd.  We will also have a Bred Cow Special on Monday, November 9th, with some good bred stock already consigned.  If you have any questions or would like to consign, please give me a call anytime.
