Market Update 3-1-21

Monday’s feeder special featured 800 head, with a good run of calves and yearlings, and a solid run of cull cows.  Slaughter cows were $.02-$.03 cents lower, with a top price of $.72 cents per pound, and an average price of $.63 cents per pound.  Cull bulls brought $.82 cents, with an average of $.78 cents per pound.  Demand for light calves has risen along with the temperature, and we should see that continue as we come into grass.  400-500 weight steers topped out at $183.75, with an average price of $177.38.  Same weight heifers brought $166.00, with an average price of $150.91.  600-700 weight steers brought $156.00, with an average price of $156.47, while same weight heifers brought $136.00, with an average of $126.00.  We had a good young set of Angus cow calf pairs on Monday, topping out at $1600.00 per pair, with an average price of $1538.24.  Next Monday, March 8th will be a regular cattle sale, and our next feeder special will be Monday, March 15th.  If you have any questions or would like to consign, please give me a call anytime.
